[Verse 1]
26th of July,
Sitting outside apartments coloured grey,
My mind is foggy, yet comfortable,
Like warm jackets on winter days,
16 degrees,
Finally a moment to sit and reflect,
Sifting through last nights misadventures,
I'm scared to think I remember correctly,
I realise now what I didn't before,
You've got to handle yourself before you handle the floor,
If you give a little less, all they want is some more,
Sometimes you've just got to show them the door,
[Chorus]
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I've got somewhere to be,
At five, and it's half past three,
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I don't have all the time in the universe,
Just to help you,
[Verse 2]
How can you know,
What to think when you can't at all,
There's only so much I can fit in my mind,
Before it starts to slow to a crawl,
I realise now what I didn't before,
You've got to handle yourself before you handle the floor,
If you give a little less, all they want is some more,
Sometimes you've just got to show them the door,
[Chorus]
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I've got somewhere to be,
At five, and it's half past three,
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I don't have all the time in the universe,
Just to help you,
[Solo]
[Verse 3]
I realise now what I didn't before,
You've got to handle yourself before you handle the floor,
If you give a little less, all they want is some more,
Sometimes you've just got to show them the door,
[Chorus]
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I've got somewhere to be,
At five, and it's half past three,
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I don't have all the time in the universe,
Just to help you,
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I've got somewhere to be,
At five, and it's half past three,
I'm not gonna be around forever,
I've not got time to put your act together,
I don't have all the time in the universe,
Just to help you.

Interlude
01:04
|
|||
The winter winds are whispering,
Like they have a secret to tell,
To those who are willing to listen,
And anyone who’s worthy as well,
The winter winds are calling my name,
As if they know the truth,
They tell me tales of a future,
That thing you lost in your youth,

Running With Scissors
05:26
|
|||
[Verse 1]
How many times must it be drilled into you?
Take a seat, you must be tired,
After running these past ten years,
You've come so far, why did you stop here?
You're in too deep, I get that now,
It's time for you to face your fears,
Is it boring, lying to the people who trust you most?
Trying desperately to convince others,
Of your trials and tribulations,
It's a sad, sad life you lead, and you know it,
Living a life of complete denial,
It's time you had a congratulations,
[Pre-Chorus]
When everyone's as cold as the air I breathe,
Nothing is ever the way that it seems,
And when the venom you spew kills the ones that you loved,
Are you really the one you wanted to be?
[Chorus]
And when all you’ve ever said,
Is a tear in the rain,
You’ll bury the secrets,
Which tremble in your wake,
And when the air is as cold,
As the frozen words you sung,
Next time you make a promise,
Be sure it’s a promise you can make,
[Verse 2]
Can you remember the place where you began?
A life so full of deluded secrets,
You can't separate fact from fiction,
It's a sad, sad life you lead, and you know it,
Living a life of complete denial,
It's time you had a congratulations,
[Pre-Chorus]
When everyone's as cold as the air I breathe,
Nothing is ever the way that it seems,
And when the venom you spew kills the ones that you loved,
Are you really the one you wanted to be?
[Chorus]
And when all you’ve ever said,
Is a tear in the rain,
You’ll bury the secrets,
Which tremble in your wake,
And when the air is as cold,
As the frozen words you sung,
Next time you make a promise,
Be sure it’s a promise you can make,
[Bridge]
What you're scared of the most,
Are the monsters under your bed,
But you didn't notice that,
You turned into one instead,
What you're scared of the most,
Is the things you cannot see,
But you can't see,
The monster in you is free,
[Pre-Chorus]
When everyone's as cold as the air I breathe,
Nothing is ever the way that it seems,
And when the venom you spew kills the ones that you loved,
Are you really the one you wanted to be?
[Chorus]
And when all you’ve ever said,
Is a tear in the rain,
You’ll bury the secrets,
Which tremble in your wake,
And when the air is as cold,
As the frozen words you sung,
It won’t be that I lost a father,
It’ll be that you lost a son

I Remember
02:25
|
|||
I remember the way your eyes lit up the first time I said, “I love you.”
It was early October.
You and I lay on the couch in my living room, oblivious entirely to the outside world. Out of my window you could see the entire Melbourne City skyline, from St. Kilda to the Rialto. Not one of those buildings mattered to you or I. None of the people in those buildings mattered, no one in the world mattered at that moment in time. All that mattered was the look in your eyes. I could see hurt. I could see anguish. I could see betrayal. I made a silent vow to never do one of those things to you.
I looked into your bright, blue eyes, singed red on the outside from the tears. I cupped your chin in my hand, brought your face up to mine and said your name. You looked at me in the vain of a lost puppy looking for its owner, your pupils piercing my soul and crushing my heart.
I knew you weren’t ready to say it. I built the courage in my mind until I said, “I am head over heels in love with you.” I had never seen anyone go from tears to inconsolable giggling faster than that night. I don’t know if I ever will again.
I don’t know if I want to.
I had never been happier in my life than that night. The night I told you I loved you.
In amongst the pain and tears we shared that night, I knew I meant what I said. I never wanted to let you go, ever. You were the first person I ever loved with all my heart. We had something special. We had something I thought only existed in fairy tales. We had each other. And I guess you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.
I remember the way your eyes lit up the first time I said, “I love you.”
And I swear to you.
I will never forget it.

Natalie

[Verse 1]
Dear the long haired girl,
I met in the line for the band,
I think it was always you,
That I fell in love with, and,
Dear blue eyed soul,
The one that's half my height,
The one I know will never be,
The one I get to love, tonight,
[Pre-Chorus]
I know I'll never,
Be lucky enough,
To taste those bright pink lips,
[Verse 2]
Hey dark brown hair,
Don't tell me that you forgot,
I was the one in the background,
Trying to be someone I'm not,
Oh, gorgeous girl,
Is there anything you aren't right about?
I'd be with you till the end of the world,
But you seem too far away, now,
[Pre-Chorus]
I know I'll never,
Be lucky enough,
To taste those bright pink lips,
[Chorus]
Natalie,
I know I'm where I'm meant to be,
Natalie,
There's no other face that I would rather see,
If there ever comes a day,
When you need a friendly face to kiss,
Well, Natalie,
You've got me,
[Chorus]
Natalie,
I know I'm where I'm meant to be,
Natalie,
There's no other face that I would rather see,
If there ever comes a day,
When you need a friendly face to kiss,
Well, Natalie,
You've got me,
If there ever comes a day,
When you need a friendly face to kiss,
Well, Natalie,
You've got me.
